A dated bathroom in Brookwater, in the Greater Springfield area of Ipswich, rebuilt on the same layout with a warmer, more modern finish. Soft stone-look porcelain from floor to ceiling, a timber vanity with a red stone-look vessel basin, a fluted glass shower screen framed in brushed brass and the spa bath set into a newly tiled hob.
The bathroom
Drag the handle to compare. White tiles, a dark vanity and frosted glass made way for stone-look porcelain, warm timber, brushed brass and a fluted glass shower screen.

01 The starting point
The original bathroom had white wall tiles, beige floor tiles, a dark two-tone vanity with a white basin and a frameless frosted glass shower. The spa bath sat in a tiled hob beneath the plantation shutters.
The layout already worked well, so the shower, vanity and spa bath stayed where they were and the finishes around them were completely renewed.
02 Strip-out and rough-in, 22 October 2025
Work started on 22 October. The old tiles, vanity and shower screen came out and the wet walls were stripped back to the frame, with the spa bath left in place and the rest of the home protected with drop sheets.
The same day, the plumbing was roughed in for the new wall-mounted tapware, ready for new linings.
03 Sheeting, 23 October 2025
The next day the walls were sheeted in villaboard, a fibre cement board made for wet areas, and the spa bath hob was boxed in ready for waterproofing.
The shower bay was framed and lined at the same time, with a recessed niche built into the wall for storage.
04 Waterproofing and tiling, to 14 November 2025
The floor, shower and bath hob were waterproofed, then large-format stone-look porcelain went down across the floor and up the walls to the ceiling. The same soft veining runs through the whole room, from the shower walls to the face of the bath hob.
New architraves went in around the doorways while the tiling progressed, and a fine brushed brass trim finishes the edge of the bath hob.
05 Fit-off, 19 November to 17 December 2025
The timber vanity went in with a travertine-look top and a red stone-look vessel basin, along with an arched shaving cabinet, the fluted glass shower screen in a brushed brass frame and brushed brass tapware throughout. Inside the shower, a brass rain shower and a finger-tiled niche complete the look.
The toilet was installed and the new door hung on 17 December, rounding out a bathroom that feels calm, warm and made to last.
