01 The brief
One home for every stage of family life
The owner wanted a home that felt unique and could change with his family over the years, rather than a standard plan. HEW Projects built a custom single-storey home in Narangba around that brief.
Four bedrooms and three bathrooms sit off a long, light hallway, so rooms can switch between bedroom, study, guest room or teenager’s retreat as the family grows and changes.
02 Living and kitchen
Open plan under high ceilings
The kitchen, dining and living areas run together as one open space, with high ceilings and timber-look flooring carried through from the front door to the back of the house.
The kitchen pairs white cabinetry and black handles with a deep, glossy subway-tile splashback, a dark benchtop and a wall oven, with a window over the sink for natural light. Split-system air conditioning keeps the living zone comfortable year round.
03 Three bathrooms
Tiled from floor to ceiling
All three bathrooms are tiled to the ceiling in large-format porcelain. The ensuite uses a warm marble-look tile with a green finger-tile shower niche, a rain shower and a vessel basin on a dark stone-look top.
The main bathroom goes cooler with grey stone-look tiles, a freestanding bath beside a framed glass shower and the same vessel basin detail, so the rooms feel related without being identical.
04 Bedrooms
Bright, simple and ready to adapt
The bedrooms are kept simple so they can work hard: ceiling fans, generous windows and the same timber-look flooring as the living areas, ready to be a nursery today and a home office or guest room later.
05 Outside
Street presence and a covered alfresco
The façade mixes white render, light face brick, grey weatherboard-look cladding and timber-look battens over the entry, with a timber front door and a single lock-up garage.
Out the back, a tiled alfresco with a ceiling fan opens onto a fenced yard, with exposed aggregate paths running down both sides of the house.
